The winners chosen by the public will be acknowledged and awarded prizes during the following days of the festival.The festival is from 5 to 9 p.m. Daily and 10 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays.Sunshine Rotary Club will collect parking fees, a portion of which goes to the club and a portion to the foundation for the Discovery Garden. Zima said as the festival continues to grow, it became necessary to involve the club.
In 2013, about 75,000 people attended the festival. Last year, 115,000 people attended.The proceeds from the festival benefit the creation of a Children's Discovery Garden, which they hope excites and educates young people about the fascinating life of plants and their environmental importance.' We used to have gardens in our backyards, but mom and dad are both working and can’t do that now,' Zima said of the impetus.Through self-directed exhibits the children will investigate the relationships of soil, water, and sun to the growth of plant life.While in the planning stages of what Zima anticipates will be years of development, she said the group has a design and is beginning to plot the walkways. With money set aside in a dedicated fund, she said the group anticipates several more fundraisers.'
