Pros:Cheap but pretty good value. I use this laptop mostly for school work (Microsoft office, and statistics programs).

I wouldn't use it for gaming, it just doesn't have a good enough processor for most new games. I would recommend this for anyone that needs a computer for school or office work and internet surfing. The number pad makes it easy to punch in data if you do a lot of data entry.Cons:This laptop came with a little bit of junk software pre installed but that happens a lot with low end laptops, so I wasn't really surprised.Overall Review:Don't buy this laptop if you are looking for something really small. It has a 17.3 inch screen which is at the large end for laptops and it also has a number pad. These two features normally make a laptop larger.

I happen to like both of these features but some people prefer the very portable small laptops. Pros:Great graphics quality and screen, smooth full-sized keyboard, nicely sturdy, good texture on the case for grip (and for hiding fingerprints and smears:P), lightweight compared to its size, and lots of hard disk space (for my needs, anyway). Fantastic for watching movies and potentially doing artwork.Cons:Not really any, although I will point out that the processor is not meant to stand up to serious multitasking. Coming from a desktop with more than twice the power in terms of processor, I really noticed it, so beware. It works fine for most standard users, though. Also realize that this is a very wide laptop.

I don't mind personally, but if you want something that's more portable in terms of size, consider a 15.6' laptop instead. And notice that there's virtually no gap between the numpad and the main portion of the keyboard, and that because it's full-sized with a numpad, the touchpad is offset to the left.Overall Review:This is the first laptop that I have ever owned, although certainly not the first I've used. I wanted something that wouldn't tie me down to one location as much as my desktop does.If there's one thing I want to say, it's this: have realistic expectations. If you want to have something that runs more like a desktop, you'll probably have to fork out closer to $1k. But for me and my budget, a college student who currently has sparse-to-zero income and modest savings, this works just fine for my purposes. Also realize that this is a pretty large laptop; I was actually taken a bit by surprise when the sleeve I ordered for the laptop got here, a couple days before the laptop did, and I saw the size of it. Definitely realize that this is a very WIDE laptop, due to its 16:9 ratio.

The screen is almost as large as my desktop's screen (which has a ratio of 16:10, and that's basically the only way it's larger: an extra inch vertically). It's not a terribly heavy laptop, and for me it's very comfortable to sit with it for long periods of time, but for someone with a smaller frame and who is not as sturdily built as I, it might be awkward and/or uncomfortable.

I do love that, because of its size, it has plenty of room for its full-sized keyboard, including numpad. The screen is fantastic, and the imprinted pattern on both inside and outside (much like an inverted diamond-cut texture) is also very nice and useful, although not terribly shiny if that's something you're interested in having, nor is it at all smooth/glossy. Do realize that the screen and the black plastic around it are glossy, though, so beware of fingerprints and the like. All in all, a nice starter laptop, and well-suited to the average user, as well as the understanding techie. Just don't expect a gaming laptop if you buy this!.TL;DR - Highly recommended, if you won't put too much stress on it and don't mind its very wide dimensions. Pros:Bought this for my wife as an upgrade from her Acer 7736z. For sure this is a more robust PC. The boot time is much better and all around more responsive.

The screen image is beautiful. It had all the features she needed, but what she likes most, is that it doesn't get hot underneath when she has it on her lap. Stays nice and cool, which is something you don't really see all the time in something that is called a 'LAP'top. Another nice thing about this, is the weight. Much lighter then her older laptop. All in all, for general use with mild to mid level gaming, this laptop is an eggcellent buy, and an eggcellent value.Cons:No SSD.

Bummer!!Overall Review:I wish laptop manufacturers would move to using just SSD drives in their products instead of hard disk drives. I'm writing this in the 'other thoughts' section because I don't want this to be viewed as a con on this particular model. Just a personal preference. I think this model sold for a great price considering everything you get. It scored a 3.7 on the WEI because of the CPU, but I noticed the HDD only scored a low 5.6. In real world use, that 3.7 on the CPU is acceptable if the machine is responsive and quick, and I really feel an SSD would have been the icing on the cake. I would have gladly paid a little more to get less storage space in exchange for a quicker drive.

Don't get me wrong, 500 gigs is great, but say 200-240 gigs with an SSD would have been awesome! No biggy, but I do plan on upgrading this laptop for my wife in the near future by pulling out that 500 gig drive and replacing it with an SSD, and I'll probably pull the memory sticks while I'm at it and upgrade it to 8 gigs instead of 4.
